Dr. McCarrison's beginningsRobert McCarrison, M.D. landed on the shores of India in 1901. He was 23 and had just finished his training in Belfast. Like many Irishmen, Dr. McCarrison came to British India for opportunitiy.
He was first posted as a medical officer to Indian sepoys in the mountainous Northern Frontiers, and would spend the better part of 3 decades in India, pioneering research in areas where nutrition, diet, and health intersect.
