Traditional Diets are Good, while the Western Diet is Not

Healthiest Diet is Low on Bad Carbs

Chris Gardener, Ph.D., nutrition & diet research at Stanford U., said that a low (bad) carb diet is the best in terms of weight loss and markers for heart disease and diabetes like levels of glucose ("blood sugar") and cholesterol.

At around 23 minutes, Dr. Gardener says that the low carb diet (he calls "Atkins") was healthier in terms of better control of blood pressure, blood glucose (or "blood sugar"), insulin, bad (LDL) and good (HDL) cholesterol.

At around 53 minutes, Dr. Gardener says that low carb diet is better in terms of weight loss than a vegetarian and plant-intense diet.
